central Collier County...
At 446 PM EDT... Doppler radar has indicated that the thunderstorms
have dissipated over the Maria area... and moderate rain showers are
still occurring. The Doppler radar has also indicated that 3 to 5
inches has occurred over this area during the last hour from the
storms... and rainfall amounts of quarter to half an inch can still
occur with the moderate rain showers. This will continue to
aggravate the minor flooding in this area for the next hour.
Therefore... the urban flood advisory will remain in effect until 600
PM EDT for central Collier County.
Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
