Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, August 20, 2008.

Typhoon Nuri will continue to trek westward on Wednesday. The system is expected to intensify into a major category three hurricane as it remains to the north of the Philippine Islands. Models suggest that the storm will remain to the west of Taiwan as it progresses. The storm's progress will continue to be closely monitored.

Showers will begin to push out of the Korean Peninsula on Wednesday. The region can expect scattered showers and partly cloudy conditions throughout the day. Meanwhile, scattered showers will persist in Japan as a trough of low pressure moves over the country. Although temperatures are expected to become slightly cooler, overall conditions will remain hot on Wednesday. Tokyo will see scattered clouds and hot conditions with a temperature high of 89(F)/ 32(C).

In China, a front moving through the central region of China is expected to cause overcast conditions and possible showers as it moves slowly toward the coast on Wednesday. Beijing will continue to see sunny and warm conditions as the front is not expected to reach the city until Thursday.

India through southeastern Asia and the Pacific Islands will continue to see widespread rain due to seasonal monsoon moisture. The heaviest rains are expected to occur in Bangladesh, Myanmar, and the Philippines on Wednesday.

In Australia, regions along the Great Australian Bight will see cloudy conditions with possible light showers due to a low pressure passing to the south of the area. Temperatures are expected to remain warm on Wednesday as Sydney is expected to see scattered clouds and a high of 69(F)/ 21(C). High pressure will continue to remain over the rest of Australia, creating mostly sunny conditions on Wednesday.
