... Air quality alert remains in effect until noon PDT Tuesday...

The Washington state department of ecology has issued an air quality
alert... in effect until noon PDT Tuesday for the following counties
in central, south central and southeast washington:

Benton
Columbia
Franklin
Kittitas
Klickitat
Walla Walla
Yakima

Unhealthy air will be common at times across central, south
central and southeastern Washington due to the large wildfires
currently burning around the region.

Children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory illnesses
are most at risk of serious health effects. If you experience
respiratory distress, you should speak with your physician.

Some improvement in air quality due to better ventilation will be
possible over the weekend, potentially allowing the air quality to
oscillate between unhealthy and moderate to good for a brief spell.
However with wind expected to turn northerly Sunday night into
Monday smoke from ongoing fires in British Columbia and in north
central and northeast Washington is likely to drift into the lower
Columbia Basin and adjacent valleys in central, south central and
southeast Washington Sunday night and Monday.
